I finally got through the piece I had outlined (thank goodness) and now the story can go its own way. It's already taken off on a tangent.
Maybe it's just that I'm not used to using an outline, but it really seemed to restrict the story. I spent almost as much time trying to decide what to write next as I did writing, which really doesn't work for me.
I also had the outline written out as a storyline. It might have worked better if I'd just done one or two sentences for each section. I'm just glad it's over. I'm sure I'll try outlining at some point in the future, but not for NaNo again.
I hit 28000 words today, so halfway there plus a little more.
