So a third of the way through NaNoWriMo (well, technically tomorrow would be a third) and I'm 2000 words ahead. I was supposed to hit 16000 words today and I got to 18000, but that's only because I did 3500 on Monday.
As I mentioned before (I think) I decided to use a story that I had partially outlined rather than just writing straight through as I always have before. I find, once again, that I don't like outlining. Several times I've found myself stuck, with a story that wants to go in another direction entirely but if I allowed that I would have to discard the outline and about half the characters and they're in the back of my head screaming nononononono.
Not literally, but you get the picture. I hope. About a third of the time I've had less than my goal, so had to make it up other days.
The story is following the outline, but I'm really looking forward to the point where the outline stops so that I can just write.
That's good that you're trying an outline, but outlines can be changed as you go! Great job with your word count as usual. I'm way behind, but am really happy with what I'm coming up with. It's more quality than quantity this year for me, I guess. At least I hope so.
