Another Duh moment

So one more thing to remember. If you're self-publishing, you need to remember timing. Smashwords sends files to the various vendors (B&N, Kobo, etc) on a schedule. So if you want something to go live on a particular date you need to submit earlier. That being the case, I'm trying to get Without A Voice to Smashwords today so that it will (might!) be on B&N by the first.

I should have thought of that earlier--I know how vendor files work. The file is ready, the cover is ready, I was just going to do one last read-through and listen all the way through one more time before submitting. Which means that I'm going to be very busy today.

And a second duh-moment--I just realized that last week's post didn't get posted. I need to stop trying to rely on the "scheduling" option.

See you later!

  1. Really, really wish they'd let us pick a publication date/time. Not really sure why we shouldn't be able to so long as it wasn't within the next several days, and they had the material in hand. Instead of just auto-publishing when the vendor approves it, why can't they just schedule it when the author wants?

Makes doing an efficient/organized release almost impossible for indie authors.

    1. I'm sure it's been suggested, but I'll suggest it again. As long as the main advertising push doesn't happen until the actual date, I don't see that the few days difference is a major problem. It is irritating, though.
