I think I may have figured out what I'm going to do for NaNo. Not absolutely sure yet, but at least I'm playing with ideas.
In one of my other stories (Tradition) I mentioned the Monster at the Heart of the Castle, and I actually started to write the fairy tale. It's the story of a young prince who is imprisoned at the center of his castle with just a clockwork eye to look at the world.
Of course I won't know for sure until November 1st. That first day is the hardest part because I have to start a new project and I have no idea if it will have the ability to turn into a novel. They usually do, but once I'm a day or two into it I have to stick with it.
How many of you are playing NaNo?
Naw, you never have to stick with a project. I started NaNo last year and ten days in, 15,000 words I decided I just couldn't keep going with the project. So I asked myself what I did want to write. I started from scratch and finished by the end of November.
ReplyDeleteDon't put undo pressure on yourself. This is a FUN challenge. And you can do it. I know you can :)
I know I can, and it's always a blast. But if I let myself say "I don't like this one" and start over, nothing would ever get finished. Just one of my rules for myself.
DeleteThey still turn out pretty good, except last year when I tried to use an outline. Mistake.
