I finished another novel last night and just sat here staring at the screen for a while. Content to sit and grin. It's actually just the beginning of the work, but it sure feels good.
Then I created a pdf version and moved it over to the first stage editing column on my screen. The triage edit column and the unfinished column are even at the moment, each with six.
It feels amazing to get those last words down. Almost as good as getting the first words down in a new novel. I ran around the house giggling last night, and I'm still euphoric.
Now that it's "finished" I can admit that the climax needs tweaking. I need to write a synposis and listen all the way through to identify flow and plot problems. I got rid of an unnecessary storyline yesterday and I've already identified at least two additional scenes that need to be written.
The second stage begins!
I love this.
Yay! Congratulations! That is such a good feeling, and I've only really had it once. I can't wait to get there again. I like your organization columns, and may have to steal them.
ReplyDeleteI have a different column for each stage of editing. That way I can keep track of what belongs where.

Awesome! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteSo great to hit those milestones. :)
I love it.
DeleteThat's such a great feeling. Time to celebrate. It sounds like you've finished a lot of novels in your edit files. WAy to go! It's been quite the productive year for you. No wonder deserve to feel euphoric! Enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteLauren, you're my idol. When I grow up I wanna be like you. Which one did you finish? Congrats! :)
ReplyDeleteFinished Lord Bar. If I grow up to be like you and you grow up to be like me...we're both going to be kids for a LONG time.
DeleteCongratulations! You really do need to celebrate, maybe a happy dance? That's what I do when I get to a significant point in my writing :)
ReplyDeleteAWESOME! Congrats on finishing that draft! It's the first that's the hardest for me, so I always run around squealing when I get to this point, too. Best wishes on the next leg of the journey! It sounds like you have a great map - you're on your way!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I have a lot of fun with this--even with the editing, oddly.
